History

As part of our overall corporate citizenship profile, EQT believes in giving back to the communities in which we operate. To that end, we have established the EQT Foundation as a dedicated resource for providing financial, in-kind and volunteer support to communities touched by our businesses.

In 2003, the Foundation was set up with an initial funding of approximately $17 million worth of Westport Resources Corporation shares.  When Westport was sold by EQT, these funds were used to establish the Foundation. The shares — as opposed to a direct cash donation — allow for a more efficient manner of continual funding for the community.

Today, the EQT Foundation has assets of more than $30 million. In 2009, the Foundation board awarded more than $2.5 million in grants. Since it was established in 2003, the Foundation has contributed more than $14 million to nonprofits in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Kentucky and Virginia to provide support to projects that help make a difference on critical issues facing our society.
