Appalachian Footprint
As a growing resource for domestic energy, the Appalachian Basin is burgeoning with new natural gas production activity, and EQT is one of the leading players within the region.
Production footprint
With a planned investment of more than $600 million for well development this year,
EQT continues to be a formidable player in Appalachian Basin natural gas production. EQT drilled 668 wells in 2008. Approximately 60 percent were horizontal wells in low pressure shales and tight sands, while the rest consisted of coalbed methane and Marcellus shale. At the end of the day, we were successful in almost 100 percent of the wells drilled in 2008.
3Ps and Emerging Reserves
Through continuing improvements to its drilling capabilities in unconventional reservoirs, EQT’s existing Appalachian acreage position continues to offer greater promise. EQT has approximately 9.5 Tcfe of proved, possible and probable reserves-the 3Ps,
as they are called in the industry. Add to that an additional 15.5 Tcfe in unrisked
reserve potential, and EQT is extremely well poised to maintain its position as a leader in Appalachian production.
Drilling rights
EQT has secured the drilling rights to nearly 3.4 million acres of land across the Appalachian Basin, including property in Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia and Pennsylvania. We strive to use the most efficient and environmentally-friendly drilling techniques to ensure we leave the land as we found it.
