History and Mission
As part of our overall corporate citizenship profile, EQT believes in giving back
to the communities in which we operate. To that end, we have established the EQT
Foundation as a dedicated resource for providing financial, in-kind and volunteer
support to communities touched by our businesses.
In 2003, the Foundation was set up with an initial funding of approximately $17
million worth of Westport Resources Corporation shares. When Westport was sold by
EQT, these funds were used to establish the Foundation. The shares — as opposed
to a direct cash donation — allow for a more efficient manner of continual funding
for the community.
Today, the EQT Foundation has assets of nearly $40 million. In 2015, the Foundation
awarded more than $5 million in grants. Since it was established in 2003, the Foundation
has contributed more than $37 million to nonprofits in Pennsylvania, West Virginia,
Kentucky, Ohio and Virginia to provide support to projects that help make a difference
on critical issues facing our society.
EQT is committed to contributing to the social and economic vitality of the regions
where our employees live and work. By strategically providing financial, in kind
and human capital, EQT seeks to promote the growth of strong, livable communities
- an essential component of the company's long-term business success. The EQT Foundation
is the primary driver of that effort.
The EQT Foundation will make a difference throughout EQT Corporation’s operational footprint by identifying and supporting innovative local programs and initiatives that affect education, community and economic development, arts and culture, and the environment.
We will use our resources to encourage economic growth in the regions we touch by
supporting selected initiatives that can enable these areas to help themselves achieve
