Being a Good Neighbor
At EQT, our business is about more than just the innovative production, processing and transportation of energy resources; it’s also about being a good neighbor.
Just like the friends and neighbors in your community, we strive for a cooperative and mutually beneficial relationship with you, our customers, our partners, and residents in the regions where we do business.
Strong, healthy neighborhoods are made up of neighbors who talk to one another, who respect each other and each other’s property, and who take care of one another.
At EQT, we pledge to do our part to build strong, neighborly relationships.
We’ll keep you updated on the projects on which we are working and where. We’ll be considerate of land owners and their land,
as well as the beautiful Appalachian landscape where we are so privileged to work. We’ll do everything in our power to maintain the safe and secure operation of our wells, pipelines and processing plants.
And we’ll give back in meaningful ways to the communities that support us and our business.
There are more than two million miles of pipelines in America. EQT has a strong record of pipeline safety. We are continually building new, more technologically-advanced
pipelines that offer improved safety features.
We also constantly monitor our pipeline system, looking for any possible problems. Our team prepares and trains for natural disasters and emergencies, working in conjunction with area first responders and even Homeland Security.
To date, EQT Midstream has not had to implement any of the emergency training scenarios, but EQT wants you to know we are prepared for any possibility.
However, it is more likely that we might experience a disruption in service due to unauthorized digging. That brings us to our next point.
Like any good relationship, ours must be a give and take. There are some things that we ask of you.
First and foremost, notify EQT immediately if you notice anything out of the ordinary related to our equipment or pipelines. Our country’s infrastructures, including our natural gas pipelines, are a matter of National Security.
As such, we urge you to report any suspicious activity immediately to local authorities (call 911) and to contact EQT. Do not re-enter the area until the service person secured the safety of the area.
And finally, EQT maintains clear rights-of-way above many of our underground pipelines for safety reasons so that we can have unlimited access for routine maintenance and in times of emergencies. If we have a right-of-way on your property there are certain rules you need to follow.
You cannot “encroach” upon the right-of-way by restricting our access to it or causing harm to the underground pipeline.
That generally means "call-before-you-dig" but it also includes not building structures, storing things or even planting excessive vegetation in the area. Remember, even tree roots can cause damage to underground pipes.
We want you to know that EQT is here and looking out for you. We are looking out for the safe and reliable operations of our rigs, pipes and plants, and we are taking responsibility for property where we have rights-of-way and being good stewards of the Appalachian environment.
Bringing you efficient, affordable natural gas is our business; doing it as unobtrusively and safely as possible is our commitment.
