Sam
Reservoir Engineer, Asset Performance
Pittsburgh, PA
My Role
My main responsibility is to manage what we refer to as our “EWD” or Evolved Well Design. The EWD is our well “recipe.” All the components that go into designing a well to be drilled are captured in our EWD (e.g., well spacing, the amount of frac fluid used, the amount of proppant, the target rate, etc.). – I’m responsible for monitoring these parameters and ensuring that they are always the best mix for market conditions. I also assist with analyzing data from science tests which help evolve our well design parameters.
How I Would Describe EQT’s Culture
In a word: “Open.” This could be taken a few different ways. Open in the fact that ideas and innovation/technology are embraced and that new ideas are always encouraged. Open with respect to the transparency throughout the company and the utilization of a digital work environment so everything is connected. Open since everyone from the top down is very welcoming and truly wants to engage with employees. EQT is a fast paced, evolving company that is truly connected with a management team who regularly engages with employees in a way that I’ve never seen before in a company culture.
Living Our Values
Being in Asset Performance, Evolution is kind of an every day thing for us. Always striving to become better and finding innovations/technologies that will make us better to improve our overall well design/well economics.
Favorite Employee Benefit
The 9/80 schedule…without a question. EQT does a wonderful job of ensuring a work/life balance and the 9/80 schedule is a big part of that.
Advice to New Hires
Come in with an open mind, a willingness to learn and a strong work ethic – the rest will take care of itself. I believe EQT, and the management team in place, does their best to set people up for success.
